Admissions Process
Study Abroad in Buenos Aires

We're pleased that you are interested in Study Abroad in Buenos Aires.  Following is an explanation of the admissions process and the information you will need to complete your application.  If you need further support, please contact our Study Abroad Coordinator, Valeria Mayoral, who will gladly communicate with you before or during any stage of the admissions process.

Eligibility

To be considered for Study Abroad in Buenos Aires at the University of CEMA, you must:

  • be an undergraduate student at a recognized institution in your home country;
  • have completed or foresee completing the equivalent of two years of university level education before departure; and
  • have a strong academic background with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.4 on a 4.0 scale.

All candidates are considered on individual merit and in accordance with equal opportunities policy.

Immigration Requirements

You will be required, by the Argentine Immigrations Authority, to have a valid passport for the entire duration of your studies in Argentina. Your country of birth will determine which of two ways you should proceed in preparing to enter the country.

  1. If you were born in one of the countries whose natives need a residence permit you will enter Argentina as a tourist and then be required to obtain a residence permit within 30 days of the beginning of classes.

  2. If you were born in one of the countries whose natives need a student visa you will be required to obtain a student visa in your country of residence before entering Argentina. You will not be allowed to study under a tourist visa.

Application Deadlines

The application deadlines are:

Semester August-December 2008: June 1, 2008
Semester March-July 2009: November 15, 2008

(Applications received after the deadline will be considered based on space availability and immigration status.)

Application Process

To initiate your application, you should first submit:

Study Abroad in Buenos Aires has a wide variety of applicants. Once our Admissions Office receives your online application and supporting documents we can review them to ensure they meet our basic entry criteria and to guide you through the appropriate enrolment and immigration channels.

Along with the above information, and to complete your application, you should also submit, before the deadline and by courier or express mail, to University of CEMA:

  • official university transcripts (in English or Spanish);
  • photocopy of valid passport;
  • 2 passport photos;
  • proof of Spanish Language Proficiency (only for candidates interested in Classes taught in Spanish, if first language is not Spanish);
  • a one page Statement of Purpose detailing academic goals and reasons for wanting to participating in the Study Abroad Program; and
  • Resume (Curriculum Vitae)

Once your completed application to Study Abroad in Buenos Aires has been received, it will be individually and thoroughly reviewed by our Admissions Committee. Candidates meeting our entry criteria will receive a Letter of Acceptance to Study Abroad in Buenos Aires. You will be able to use this letter as supporting documentation at your home university and for immigration purposes. It will also be accompanied by detailed information about how and where to process your residence permit or student visa. Although this letter does admit you to the program, it does not enroll you in any specific classes.

Enrollment

If you have been admitted to Study Abroad in Buenos Aires there are just a few more necessary steps to complete your enrollment. To enroll, you must submit:

It is important that you proceed with enrollment as quickly as possible so that we can confirm your full program of study. By this point you will be collaborating closely with our Study Abroad Coordinator, enrolling in the most appropriate classes, preparing to obtain your visa or residence permit, and basically enjoying defining what will be your own unique study abroad experience.

Program Costs

Application Fee: USD 100
This payment must be submitted along with your application materials.

Registration Fee: USD 500
Student Visa Fee: USD 100 (only for natives of tourist-visa non-exempt countries).
These payments are made once you have been admitted.

Tuition for the Semester August-December 2008:
USD 5400

Tuition for the Semester March-July 2009:
USD 5400

You must pay the tuition at least one week before the start of classes.

All payments (application fee, registration fee, and tuition) should be made via wire transfer in US dollars to the UCEMA bank account in Buenos Aires. You should also send a copy of the wire transfer receipt to Valeria Mayoral by fax: (54-11) 4314-1654.
